Orthopedic Rehabilitation

What is orthopedic rehabilitation?

Orthopedic rehabilitation includes the evaluation and intervention of ailments of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system. This includes anatomical structures such as nerves, muscles, bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons.

How can physical therapy help me?

Orthopedic disorders from head to toe can be managed by an experienced physical therapist.

Some of these causes may include:
  • acute injuries (motor vehicle accidents, falls)
  • overuse (running, lifting, repetitive motions)
  • gradual wear and tear (arthritis, poor posture)

Interventions usually consist of manual therapy for joint, nerve and myofascial mobilization, therapeutic exercise instruction, neuromuscular re-education, strength and conditioning, sport or work specific training, and self-management strategies.
